About Us

The mission of Video Converter Review is to provide unbiased reviews and comparisons of the best half dozen makes or brands of a given  product to provide customers with sufficient information to determine what is the best make, brand or model of that product for them. Initially, we focus on computer software and computer services. Later, we plan to expand into hardware (such as cameras and computer equipment) and other products or services.

Our goal is to continually expand, to continually improve, to provide the customer with a quality service, and to make a reasonable profit in the process.

While we generally receive a commission on sales, our recommendations are not based on commissions paid, but rather on the quality of the product.

How We Test

Different products require different testing approaches.

Products such as DVD to iPod converters are tested by downloading them and trying them out ourselves.

Anti spyware was similarly tested, but required a computer badly infected with spyware, adware and other similar problems. We tried each of the products on this computer, compared how many and what kind of infections each package found, how and if it classified them, and how it dealt with them.

In addition to this, we read and make notes or lists. In the case of background check services, for example, we made long lists of what records (court records, sex offender lists, divorce records, etc.) the service makes available to the customer, and then put the lists side by side arranged in such a way that they can be compared. In this case, it is more a matter of compiling, classifying and comparing, than of testing how well something works.

With respect to support, we try each supplier's e-mail support (very few suppliers have phone support or chat lines), and see how long it takes on a weekday to get a response, and if the response actually helps us resolve the problem.

Legal Disclaimer

We do not condone or encourage any illegal practices. (In the case of copyright protected materials such as movies or DVDs, it is our understanding that in nearly all jurisdictions it is not illegal to produce a copy of a DVD that one already owns, for backup or similar purposes).
