If you only want to convert DVDs to iPod (without having the option to convert other videos like home movies and movies you've downloaded from the Internet), then Avex's DVD to iPod Converter is one of the best software packages on the market. It is fast, effective, easy to operate, versatile, and reasonably priced.

This package works well and produces high quality iPod video (MP4) in a one-step process.

You can download and install this package easily and quickly. If you're a beginner, you can just start the program, and go with the default settings.  (See 'Screens and Procedures' below). If you're a more advanced user, you will find several options to control the process and the outcomes.

Here are the main features:

• with its one-step conversion, it directly converts DVD to iPod
• it has full format support: it converts all kinds of DVD files to iPod format
• you can specify various kinds of video-crop modes
• you can see the conversion progress in the preview window
• you can specify the setting of the subtitle language

Sample Screens and Procedures
To start the program, click on the icon placed on your desktop during the installation. The Main Screen shown in Figure 1 below appears.

You now click on Choose DVD (Bottom right).

The program takes it from there, based on the default settings. Just sit back and watch the drama unfold on the screen.

Of course, there are things you can adjust. Here's what happens when you click on Options, top left, see Figure 3 below.

If you select Output Settings, the Output Settings Screen shown in Figure 3 appears.

Now, where necessary, you can adjust the aspect ratio, volume, brightness, etc.

Using the other options and buttons, you can make a variety of other adjustments, including subtitle language, stop and start time (so you can copy any segment you want), various DVD settings and output quality settings.

You will find this to be an easy to use yet flexible program which we can wholeheartedly recommend. At $29.00, it's an excellent value.
