Our Experience with this Package (so far)

As you probably noticed, we use the Site Pal virtual character service ourselves. We signed up just recently. Here's how easy it was to get going.

As soon as we got the name and credit card details out of the way (by the way, you can try SitePal for free for the first 15 days), we started "building" our character:

• pick a lady's or man's face (there are comic strip characters, too),
• pick the hairdo,
• add eye glasses if you want,
• pick the clothes,
• pick the jewelry
• pick the voice (American English, British English, Australian English, various foreign languages),
• determine the message (by phone, professional recording, text to speech). We picked text to speech and typed in the message,
• try it out.

We tried it out, and when we were happy with our creation, we were given a few lines of html code which we pasted into our  DVD-Copy web page, and presto, the thing was up and running.

It didn't take us very long at all, and it was easy. We did not watch the instructional clip telling you how to do it; perhaps we should have and we would have sailed through it even easier.

We used different characters and different messages for our DVD-to-iPod web page and for the page you're reading right now, and both went as smoothly as the first one.

Support

We had a little sign-on problem in the beginning (which turned out to be because we had some adware on our own machine), so we emailed support, and they got back to us within two hours, which in our experience is better than average for a software company.

They also have good instruction videos and a detailed online FAQ section which answers most of your questions.

Flexibility

As shown above, you can build your own animated character and have it say whatever you wish. The text of your message can be recorded or it can be Text to Speech, which is what we're initially using. We plan to use a professionally recorded message, available through SitePal, in the near future.

The picture and message load quickly and do not delay the normal loading of your site.

Pricing

There are different plans (bronze, silver or gold), with different monthly rates, from $9.95 per month to $49.95 per month, depending on the options you choose and the maximum number of times your add shows in a month (streams). There's no difference in quality with these different plans, only a difference in options.
